Imperial/ Weimar Hunting Cutlass-Alcoso

All brass fittings to this cutlass give it an ageless look, despite being 100 or more years old. “Umbrella” type pommel has no damage to the periphery and is held tightly to the tactile dark brown stag horn grip. This grip, which bends slightly to the left, is complete with three brass acorn devices. Lined ferrule matches the pommel design perfectly and is again undamaged. Brass crossguard is fitted with opposed stylised deer hoofs. Clamshell is the standard lined example usually found, and is complete with a red felt washer in the blade recess. Double etched blade is in exceptional condition having all the greying in the backgrounds with no signs of wear or other damage.The early Alcoso trademark is stamped to the upper reverse ricasso-a beautiful blade here. The scabbard is made of fine black leather with the usual twin accent lines at the edges and sewn up the rear. The brass scabbard mounts are plain with scalloped edges. Numbers are visible beneath the staples which secure these mounts. The upper mount is equipped with a lug shaped like an acorn.
