WW1 Princess Mary Gift Tin

Excellent condition brass tin having some of its original contents, including a most interesting and colourful “Abstinence” certificate issued by the Royal Army Temperence Association.
The Royal Army Temperance Association (RATA) was a British military organization, founded in the 19th century to combat high rates of drunkenness in the Army, particularly in India. Originally established as the Soldiers' Total Abstinence Association in 1862, it became the Army Temperance Association in 1893 and received its "Royal" title in 1902. The association provided social alternatives to alcohol, promoted sobriety, and awarded medals for periods of abstinence.
Also in the tin is a Christmas card missing its outer cover and a “bullet pencil” having a shell case marked with the “crown over M” stamp.
